Hi guys! So I'm currently in Thailand studying meditation and reiki. As I learn more about the chakras it's exciting and important to share this knowledge with others. This series is not only going to help me with my skills but spread some pretty important information at a very complex time. For the next seven weeks I plan to post about each of the seven chakras, once a day. Each week will be dedicated to a different chakra and each day will have different information on that chakra. I plan to not only share what I'm learning out here but also my personal experiences and hopefully you will share yours with me as well.
Keeping the chakras balanced is a key importance in our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. And focusing our energy inward so that we may utilize all of our power is very important in this very chaotic time in the world.
The root chakra is very important in keeping balanced and is symbolized by the color red. As we follow on this journey for the week I encourage you to use something red throughout the week to symbolize your root chakra and keep you focused. You can tie a red string around your wrist, wear a red scarf, use a red candle for meditation, whatever works for you.
I won't say that the root chakra it most important because ideally you want each chakra to open and balanced but the root chakra is where you want to start. This chakra is located at the base of your body, your tailbone or spine, and acts as your foundation. This is where your self-confidence and trust and security in life come from. Meditation is a very powerful way to begin to center yourself and balance your root chakra and is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Even five minutes a day of meditation has been proved to help improve physical health.
My personal interest in meditation came last year. I was suffering from extreme stress and my menstrual cycle had stopped. I had tried everything, exercise, diet, etc but it wasn't until I started practicing chakra meditation and reiki self-healing that I was able to resume my cycle. There are many types of meditation including two of my favorites chakra meditation and mantra meditation. Chakra meditation is about being quiet and centered and focusing on healing one or all of the chakras. If you find if difficult to be quiet try mantra meditation. Mantra meditation seems to work well for me when I have a lot on my mind and feel restless. The root chakra is associated with Lord Ganesha so I have included one of my favorite mantras for Ganesha below. I listen to it in the morning as I set my daily intentions.
